Any time I get to travel to photograph a wedding at a Hogsback wedding venue, I am a happy ladyyyyyy! So when Tim mailed me to explain this was a surprise wedding at The Edge disguised as a birthday party… and we would head to the forest for photos… and it was going to be a heck of a party… there is only one way to respond. YES!!!

Anyone who travels to Hogsback will understand the lure it holds. The intense magical vibe that surrounds that little mountaintop village deep in the Eastern Cape Amathole/Amatola mountains is tangible. Wander through the misty forests and sit in front of beautiful waterfalls. Stare up at the giant Redwood trees in the Arboretum. Take time to stare out at the magnificent view from places like the Starways Pottery Workshop. As a result (trust me on this) you’ll feel calmness seep through you and settle in your bones. I apologise if this sounds like a tourism ad for Hogsback, but it really is that brilliant haha!

I’m so lucky to have made friends throughout the village and the team at The Edge are some of the friendliest, kindest people you will have the pleasure of encountering. I always know that when a couple choose The Edge as their Hogsback wedding venue, it is going to be incredible!

Wendy and Tim used the guise of a getaway for Tim’s birthday. On arrival at the luncheon he hopped up to give a speech and proposed to Wendy. The guests were SO happy. Then, Wendy announced that they were actually getting married in about an hours time, allocated bridal entourage titles to friends and family, and set off to get ready. Cue tears, laughter, whoop whoops and excitement of epic proportions!

We met up in the labyrinth an hour later, and the rest is history. #Twendy, you two rock my world. I enjoyed every minute of plotting and planning with you guys! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking me along with you on this incredible journey.
