A Karoo wedding is always a breath of fresh air! I’ll set the scene… We find ourselves on a wine farm in the heart of Ladismith, Great Karoo, in amongst the hustle and bustle of setting up a DIY farm wedding. Vanessa is calling out names for place settings. Mark is swimming. Dogs are sleeping everywhere you’d like to walk. I am trying to rescue a chicken who is actually friends with the dog that is chasing it. Elli the Frenchie snores through it all.

 

 

What a joy to wake up at Mymering! When I think of the Karoo I always think of dusty streets and old farm houses. Mymering is none of those things. A working grape farm, guest house and intimate Karoo wedding venue… and also the home of Hillock Wines too (verrrr NB haha). Mymering looks out onto the stunning Towerkop Mountain and is a little slice of heaven. I spent about half a day just trying to narrow down photo spot choices when scouting!

And then come the dogs… 10 in total! Luckily, totally relaxed and very used to farm life. I loved the way that Vanessa and Mark made their dogs such a huge part of their wedding, with Elli the Frenchie as a bridesmaid/flower girl and Shaggy as the ring bearer. Isn’t that just the cutest!!! You probably first saw Shaggy at Charné and Axel’s awesome Hogsback forest wedding where he was right at home chilling with the guys and chasing birds. Consequently, nothing has changed.

I know that when you look through these images, you’ll see just how much fun this couple has together! Ness and Mark, thank you for being so flipping awesome. You both have such big hearts and I feel honoured to have been invited to hang out with you and capture such awesome memories! I’ll never look at Brad Pitt and Hotel California the same again haha! Love you guys!

Farm wedding are just the best! I love that I have been able to experience so many, from an Eastern Cape pineapple farm wedding to a Jeffrey’s Bay back-yard farm celebration. I simply love the character that farming communities bring to these weddings!
