As a destination wedding photographer, absolutely nothing beats hopping into a rental car and heading out to a new destination with map in hand! This is how I have always lived my life and I am so flipping lucky that my job allows me to carry on doing that for my foreseeable future! If there is one inspirational quote we live by (which proves itself time and time again) it is “collect memories, not things”.
Okaaaay I still like things TBH, but we digress.
This wedding… where to even begin? Well, let’s start at the beginning… Villa Ricrio ticks all the boxes if you are looking for a wedding venue in Tuscany! The setting is simply magnificent, the surrounding countryside is jaw-droppingly beautiful, the view… oh my gosh, the view. It has a historical reception venue in the cellar with arches and vaulted ceilings. Oh yes, and it is in TUSCANY! I mentioned that, right?
So Justin and I arrived in our little Fiat Panda… go-to Italian cruiser. I see a villa, cypress trees and hay bales. I lose my mind (inwardly of course, I have a reputation to uphold). And then I meet Francesca and Brad at the poolside, and it all just comes together. Sometimes (often), I meet clients for the first time after hours of Skype calls, and I just know… I know their wedding is going to be awesome!!!
Go figure, this wedding was AWESOME! How lucky am I guys!? There was so much going on that I just ran around the whole day photographing things left right and centre. I think our heads finally hit the pillow around 02h30 the next morning. Italians and South Africans, I say no more 🙂
Francesca and Brad (and co-conspirators Mel and Michelle), thank you! Flying a photographer in from the other side of the world is always daunting, but I thank you for your trust and for allowing me to show you both your wedding and Tuscany through the eyes of someone completely humbled by the pure joy and beauty. I’ll be forever grateful!
On to the photos!
I am allll about destination weddings, so there are so many more for you to draw inspiration from! Klara and Pablo’s French Chateau Destination Wedding, Elisa and Giuseppe’s Italian Greenhouse Wedding, or even Persi and Fran’s Greek Island Wedding in Corfu. Consequently, I have a serious case of wanderlust!
AS A DESTINATION WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER, LOCAL SUPPLIERS ARE ALWAYS TREASURED!
Thanks so much to the team at Villa Ricrio for coordinating simply everything!
