That Elgin Wedding magic, it just can’t be beaten!
We arrived at Cherry Glamping on a perfect afternoon and decided to explore every last bit of the surroundings before Nicci and Wean’s pre-wedding spit braai at their Elgin wedding. At some point we stopped alongside the expanse of apple orchards. I looked at row upon row of empty apple trees with a heavy heart.
(I wasn’t wearing my glasses but) I could have sworn there was a bit of red in the distance. So off Neil and I drove. A few moments later we were standing in one of the last remaining fruiting rows! I will never forget the feeling of absolute excitement, joy and gratitude.
That was just the beginning!
From the minute this Elgin wedding weekend began to the very end, we could not have felt more welcome and cared for. Beyond that, the energy was second to none! There was SO MUCH beauty. SO MUCH love. There was SO MUCH laughter. And SO MANY incredible moments!
Nicci and Wean, what an absolute honour it was for us to join you on this day. I am always so stoked to be able to take photos for other photographers. Thank you for trusting me, and for being the extraordinary humans that you are. Thank you for sharing your hearts with me.
A few words from Nicci:
One of our big priorities for the wedding was that everyone could have a good time and not have to drive to where they are staying. This is exactly what Cherry Glamping offers so we chose to have an Elgin wedding. We were also looking for a place with mountain views and the ease of having a spit on the Friday. The wildlife there was an extra bonus for Wean and they have a Honeymoon room that is out of this world. We have both always wanted to get married in a Church, and were able to access one on a neighbouring farm. It was so special!
I loved everything about my wedding. From the planning stages, I knew exactly what I wanted (also taking Weans ideas into consideration LOL). It was FUN, simple, elegant and honestly quite stress free having such a great team on the day. I loved having all my friends and family there, I loved feeling like a queen, I loved marrying my best friend and I loved the party, food and chocolate fountains.
My advice to other brides is to always trust your gut!! I was so happy I ended up getting a videographer, even if it was 2 weeks before the wedding. The other thing that is really important is that if there is something you aren’t 100% happy with rather say it. Start with your budget and build your wedding around that. Don’t spend your life’s savings on your wedding. Do what you and your partner want, not what others want you to do or what the trends of the day is. Then, ENJOY your day!!! It’s the best day ever! Don’t ruin it by stressing over the small stuff.
“Our choice of photographer was such an important one to me. There is this new trend of dark, gloomy and blurry wedding photography and I feel that is the total opposite of what a wedding is… I wanted sharp, bright, light and happY photos. This is exactly what you brought and why I chose you NIKI. Your excitement is contagious (and that really helps when the groom doesn’t enjoy photos)!”
