Garden Route wedding venues… I could spend an entire season photographing weddings in the forests, on the beaches and even in the vineyards, and NEVER get tired of the variety! To make things better, every now and then the Universe throws in a spectacular sunset… this gorgeous December day at a wedding in the vineyards of Kay and Monty left us speechless!

Maxine and Trevor decided to have their destination wedding away from their hometown of Johannesburg. I asked them a few ‘why’s and ‘how’s to find out what made them choose a Plettenberg Bay, and if they could offer any advice to other couples who would like to get married at a Garden Route wedding venue.

From the bride…

We chose Plettenberg Bay for our wedding because I have been going there for family holidays for many, many years. It is one of the most beautiful places in South Africa!

The most important thing for both of us was to have our closest friends and family there to share the day with us. Although our day was perfect, I wish we could have made it longer to have more time with our guests. Unfortunately curfew was still in place.

We chose Garden Route vendors we knew had good reputations and great work which we had previously seen. I loved working with each of them because they understood our vision and how we wanted our wedding venue to look as well as our wedding day to flow, down to every detail.

Advice I’d give to couples: the earlier you plan your wedding the better! Don’t leave anything to the last minute and cause yourself unnecessary stress. Also, take every single moment of your wedding day in as it goes by so fast!
